Stomach infection - Cryptosporidiosis
Cryptosporidiosis is a parasitic disease caused by cryptosporidium a protozoan parasite. It affects the intestine.
a) Major symptom is diarrhea.
b) Diarrhea is usually watery with mucus.
c) Stomach pain or cramps and a low fever.
Method of spread
a) Infection is through contaminated material such as water, uncooked food.
b) Person to person from fever contamination.
c) Spread from animals to children e.g. pet animals.

Usually 1-12 days from date of contact.

During course of infection or sometimes longer.
What to do
Consult with your doctor for appropriate treatment.
Control & preventions
a) Carefully hand washing.
b) Specially children should wash hands after petting animals.
c) Promote good personal hygiene.
d) Boil water at least for 2 minutes before consuming.
